Career Guidance

Every academic year starts with a visit by the 6th year (Leaving 2 class )to the Higher Options Presentation in the R.D.S. This takes place in the 3rd week of September in the same week that the students have a full day presentation and workshop on Study Skills and a talk for their parents on the same topic coupled with a presentation on the C.A.O. process by Mrs. Foley.

Apart from the timetabled classes on Career Guidance Mrs. Foley also meets all the Leaving 2 students up to 5 times individually in order to help each one choose the C.A.O. options which suits him best. All Leaving 1 ( 5th year ) and T.Y. students have one timetabled period per week of Guidance.

Mrs. Foley is available to meet parents by appointment to discuss concerns that they may have in relation to their son’s future career choices.

Mrs. Foley visits all the feeder Primary schools prior to Open Day and when Parents have made a decision to send their son to Knockbeg Mrs. Foley then liaises with each Primary School to discuss the academic progress and any other relevant information which will be useful in helping your son make a successful transfer to Knockbeg .
