November 2009 Trinity College Entrance Exhibition Award
Emmet Jordan of the 2009 Leaving Cert class will be awarded an Entrance Exhibition by Trinity College on 25th November at a ceremony in the College.This is award is a bursary to purchase textbooks and is given only to those who achieve over 560 points in the Leaving Cert.
November 2009 Leaving Cert German - Ist Place in Ireland
Niall Bergin of the 2009 Leaving Cert class was awarded joint 1st place in Ireland, with one other student, for his 99.25% mark in this year's German exam. The award was presented during the German Teachers of Ireland Annual Conference in Trinity College on Saturday 14th November. Congratulations to Niall and his teacher Ms. Dillon.
November 2009 U.C.D. Sports Scholarship
Donal Kingston, the Knockbeg and Laois Footballer, who completed his Leaving Cert in June, has been awarded a Sports Scholarship by U.C.D. The presentation of the award will take place in O'Reilly Hall, Belfield on Friday 20th November
October 2009 Business Studies Awards.
8 members of the 2009 Junior Cert Business Studies class received awards in Waterford I.T. on 20th October 2009 for excellence in their subject - they all achieved A in the paper. These awards are presented by the Business Studies Teachers' Association of Ireland.
October 2009 N.U.I.Galway Scholarships
Niall Bergin and David Flanagan from the Leaving Cert class of 2009, were awarded scholarships by University College Galway. Niall, who is studying medicine and David,who is studying Science, were presented with their awards in the college on Thursday 15th October
April 2009 Aldo Papone T.Y. National Tourism Award Winners - 3rd Year in a row
Two Knockbeg students, Philip Brennan and C.J.Hartigan, win the Aldo Papone National Tourism Award for the third year in a row. Their winning project, which had to be related to Sports Tourism, was entitled "Special Olympics Ireland". They will present their project before an international audience from other participating countries in Nice, France between the 22nd and 26th of November. Once again they will be accompanied by their co-otrdinating teacher Mr. J. Bolger
April 2009 Austria - Ireland Scholarship winner - 2nd year in a row
Niall Bergin wins the Ireland - Austria German scholarship for the second year in a row. Niall's prize is once again a two week fully paid stay in the University of Salzburg to study German. Niall, who was accompanied by his teacher Ms. L. Dillon, was presented with his prize and the Schwarzkopf Crystal Perpetual Trophy at a ceremony in the Austrian Embassy.
March 2009 All Ireland Scholarship Award
At a ceremony in University of Limerick Paul Gillick from the Leaving Cert class of June 2008 was awarded a scholarship worth €6000 per year for the duration of his third level education.This was awarded under a scheme sponsored by well known racehorse owner and philanthropist J. P. McManus. The award was jointly made by Mr. McManus and Batt O'Keeffe T. D. Minister for Education and Science.
October 2008 Third Level Scholarship and Award winners
Five students from the Leaving Cert class of June 2008 received various awards from their Third Level Colleges for their outstanding marks in this year's Leaving Cert. Cian Logan and Eanna Ryan were presented with High Achieever Awards at a ceremony in O'Reilly Hall, U.C.D. James Byrne received an Entrance Exhibition Award from Trinity College. Stephen Millar was awarded a scholarship and campus accommodation by N.U.I. Maynooth. Cole Delaney won a scholarship from G.M.I.T. achieved the highest Leaving Cert marks among all those in his First Year class

May 2008 All Ireland German Debate Winners
Knockbeg defeated Our Lady's College, Drogheda in the Seimens sponsored final held in the Goethe Institute in Dublin. Having defeated a number of teams from around the country the Knockbeg team had to pull out all the stops to overcome Our Lady's in a hotly argued final. The motion, which Knockbeg opposed translated as "The Irish are losing their identity". Congratulations to the Knockbeg team : F. Egan, D. O' Connor, A. Buckley and N. Bergin. A special word of thanks to Ms. L. Dillon, the German teacher, who spent many evenings after school preparing the team and helping the boys to hone their arguments
April 2008 Austria - Ireland German Scholarship Winner
Niall Bergin wins the Austria - Ireland scholarship to the University of Salzburg for a 2 week all expenses paid series of German classes during the summer. This competition was open to all Leaving Cert students studying German and at a ceremony in the Austrian Embassy Niall was presented with his prize and the Schwarzkopf Crystal Perpetual Trophy. March 2008 All Ireland Winners Eco Unesco Young Environmentalists Award
The Kockbeg team of S. Breheny, P. O' Connor, S. Butler, F. Egan and N. Bergin won both the Senior category and the Overall prize for their project on Bio Diversity. Congratulations to all and to their teacher Ms. Buckley
May 2007 T.C.H. All Ireland Quiz Winners
T.C.H. All Ireland Schools' Quiz winners with the following team : P. Moloney, Captain, R. Manning, A. Buckley, H. Roberts and subs D. Flanagan and K. Lambe. The team won €12000 worth of computer equipment for the school and themselves. The final was broadcast live from R.T.E's studios in Donnybrook. Congratulations to all concerned including Mr. D Phelan and Mr. M. Lyons who helped to prepare them for the various rounds and accompanied them to all venues
In wishing them well principal Mr. Hughes said “The Knockbeg Community takes great pride in the achievement of Emmet and David. They epitomise what our Transition Year is about; initiative, endeavour, personal responsibility and teamwork.”
Their co-ordinating teacher Jarlath Bolger said “it’s great for us to be involved at an international level with this kind of work. We’re very grateful for all the support we’ve got from inside and outside the College. The two lads have given huge commitment to the work and I hope Nice goes well for them”.
