Senior Football Review

The senior footballers unfortunately bowed out of the Leinster ‘A’ Quarter final and League Semi-Final at the hands of an exceptionally strong St.  Peter’s side in both competitions. Goals were to prove the difference as      Knockbeg lost the league semi on a scoreline of 5-8 to 2-6 and the championship 3-9 to 1-11.

Having overcome Rochefortbridge in the 2nd half and with a spirited finish on a final score of 1-11 to 1-8 we looked forward to the Peter’s game. However, the championship proved heartbreaking as some missed opportunities and a  sloppy 10 minutes spell before half time seeing the concession of 1-4 proved the difference. Knockbeg put in a sterling second half performance but to no avail. Don’t be surprised if you see us beaten by the Leinster Champions for a second year on the trot.
However the year has proved to be immensely successful on many fronts for the Senior footballers. This year 64 footballers have lined out at Senior football level as the development of footballers continued at renewed pace. Two teams were entered into the   Carlow Schools League, with the teams reaching the top 2 finals in  Carlow IT.
