The Annual Tractor Run
On the 11 March 2016, St. Mary’s Knockbeg College held their Annual Tractor Run, in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation. This year was the college’s 10th Tractor Run, a tradition which was created in 2005 where the students travel to school in their tractors in the aim to raise much needed funds for charity. In total there were twelve tractors in attendance ranging from a Massey Ferguson 6290, a variety of New Hollands, two Deutz, a Fendt 312 and even a classic Belarus along with the surprise addition of a JCB teleporter and a monstrous Volvo loader. As part of the activity to aid the fundraising, we held a non-uniform day, in which all students contributed 2 euro. We also held a bucket collection in which all parents/guardians contributed generously. The day was a great success, with the total collection raising over 1000 euro. The tractor run committee wanted to take this opportunity to thank their sponsors Hennessy Auctioneers and Valuers in Stradbally, Hegarty’s Farm Machinery in Tullow and also DB Graphics in Ballyadams for sponsoring our advertising needs.
