For the first time in a number of years Knockbeg travelled to Leinster Schools with a handful of people! The first of the 7 beg boys to take to the testing course of Santry Demesne was TJ Burke in the minor boys. TJ ran a great race and finished 50th respectively after being sick the past week. Then the two junior boys were up as Josh Lacey moved through the field coming for 22nd to finish in 8th place, his only other team mate Cormac O Brien had a great race and finished 41st. As the ground started to tear up it was time for the intermediate boys to take to the course and a race that started at a good pace Cian Kelly managed to move his way up the field and finish 6th, a trade mark run from the Abbans Athlete, he was followed home by Cianlann Mulhall who finished 49th after a hard fought race from the Laois man! Last and finally it was time for the senior boys to run and it was a sad sight to see again only 2 athletes for the 3rd time today take to the course it was Oran O Flaherty and Jamie Wall.. Again the pace was rapid from the start and Wall worked his way into 7th place and finished there, Oran was hovering around the qualification mark of 15th for the race and just managed to take 14th over a mucky 6,000m race! So after a day's racing Knockbeg have 4 athletes going to Sligo race course on the 5th of March for the All Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships! They are Josh Lacy, Cian Kelly, Oran O Flaherty and Jamie Wall. Big congrats to all who competed today!
