Knockbeg took part in the Laois schools cross country event on Wednesday. Conditions were good, underfoot hard and bright and sunny above. The minors started well with TJ Burke winning and Shane Buggy finishing 3rd. With 10 Knockbeg runners inside the first 20 we won the team event and our B team finished second. The Junior boys had to work harder with big last laps from Josh Lacey (3rd), Cormac O Brien (4th), David Mcdonald(9)and Leeson Hughes (14) to claim the team prize.

The Inters were minus their first man in Cian Kelly but were well led by Cialann Mulhall who finished 3rd. Backed up by Finbarr Kavanagh, Jack Lacey and Vincent Hendricken this team also won their team gold.
We had only two runners in the senior race but it was hard miss them. Jamie Wall pulled away early in the race for a solid win and was followed home in second by Oran O Flaherty.

The groups attention now turns to South Leinster Championships which will be held next Wednesday in Heywood College.
