A message from the Principal
The last twelve months have seen significant change here in Knockbeg College and not all of which has been to our liking. The English-Hayden and McDonald families have each lost a beloved son, the loss of Donal English Hayden was particularly difficult as he was a much cherished member of the school community. Many members of our staff and indeed the wider school community also lost loved ones during the year and our thoughts are with them all as we approach the holidays.
There have been changes in staff too with the retirement of Mr. Leahy and the recent illness suffered by Mr. Lyons. We thank one for many years of excellent service to our school and wish the other a speedy recovery. Increasing numbers of students in the school have meant many new faces on the staff this year and we welcome all to the family that is Knockbeg.

We also had a team of inspectors here from the Department of Education to carry out a Whole School Inspection, a very challenging but ultimately rewarding process. When they returned to present preliminary findings, the inspectors were extremely positive in their statements, using the word ‘fantastic’ on numerous occasions.

With regard to our school buildings we are now nearly ready to go to tender and can say with certainty that work will commence during 2016.
Finally I would like to wish everybody a very happy and peaceful Christmas and a joyous New Year.
