Knockbeg  v Clane Round 1 ,  Senior Football ‘A’ South Leinster League
In the opening round of the senior ”A” South Leinster Football League Knockbeg played host to Clane team who had beaten Ard Scoil , Athy by 13 points in the opening round. With the aid of having played a match Clane settled into the game with the opening scores. Knockbeg battled back with good scores from the midfield pair, Mark Glynn and Ger Brennan. These were followed with good points from Kevin Higgins  and Conor Crowley before a goal from Luke Attride  , which left Knockbeg leading at halftime 1-6 to 7 points .The balance seemed to swing in Knockbegs favour before half time following the dismissal of Clanes midfielder for 2 yellow cards . 
Knockbeg resumed control early in the 2nd half, they pushed their lead out to 5 points with 10 minutes remaining following scores from substitutes John Byrne and Ciaran Comerford . However , the consession of a goal with 8 minutes to go left Knockbeg on the back foot . They were to concede two frees in the closing minutes for Clane to level as Knockbeg failed to close out a game they had complete control of with ten minutes left.
Knockbeg were left to regret a number of missed goal chances in the second half with the extra man not being utilised to telling effect. Despite this late set back the panel looks forward to the season ahead as it should get stronger with return of some players from injury and club duties .
